9.6 PROFIBUS
PROFIBUS® (Process Field Bus) is a widely-used eldbus system for the automaon of
machines and producon plants.
•
Detailed informaon on PROFIBUS can be found on the web page of the PROFIBUS & PRO-
FINET Internaonal (PI) user organisaon: hp://www.probus.com
•
Informaon about the dimensioning of a PROFIBUS network can be found in the congu-
raon document for the inverter.
•
PROFIBUS® is a registered trademark and patented technology licensed by the PROFIBUS &
PROFINET Internaonal (PI) user organisaon.
Precondions
•
Control unit (CU) of the inverter is provided with PROFIBUS.
•
The DIP switch for the node address is set correctly. See "Basic network sengs" in the
secon 4PROFIBUS ^ 67.
•
The GSD le is imported into the hardware congurator of the control.

9.6.1 Introducon
The inverter is integrated into a PROFIBUS-DP network as slave. Therefore it is only allowed to
receive and acknowledge messages and to respond to requests by a master. The master is also
referred to as an acve node. Two dierent types are disnguished:
•
Class 1 DP master: central control (PLC or PC) which cyclically exchanges process data with
the slave. Acyclic data exchange via a separate transmission channel is also possible.
•
Class 2 DP master: engineering, conguraon, or operator device (HMI) which only
exchanges data with the slave acyclically, e.g. for the purposes of conguraon, mainte-
nance, or diagnoscs.
9.6.2 Communicaon me seng
The communicaon me is the me between the start of a request and the arrival of the cor-
responding response.
The communicaon mes in the PROFIBUS network depend on the ...
•
processing me in the inverter
•
Telegram runme (baud rate/telegram length),
•
nesng depth of the network.
In the case of the inverter, the processing me for process data is approx. 2 ... 3 ms, and for
parameter data (DPV1) it is approx. 10 ms. There are no interdependencies between parame-
ter data and process data.
