5.1 Ink System
l Control outline
Item Details
Ink supply system • Supplied under pressure (water head supply system)
• The damper is a pressure damper with self-sealing valve. Discharge pressure
reduction causes the damper sealing valve to open, supplying the ink. The
sealing valve closes once the damper ink chamber is full. This sealing valve
reduces the ink route pressure transmitted to the meniscus on the head when
the carriage moves. Each damper supplies ink to two paths.
Ink replacement • The ink cannot be replaced during printing.
Ink supply valve • The supply valve provided for each slot is opened and closed by solenoid
action.
• These open when ink needs to be supplied. The ink supply is opened for
discharge (e.g., printing and flushing) and suction (cleaning and filling)
operations.
• The valve closes if an error occurs, preventing ink supply.
Ink route tubes • The tubes used have an internal diameter of 3 mm.
Cap • They can be replaced by the user.
Ink suction pump • One selective path pump is provided.
