3.2.10 Replace Head
l Overview
Discharge and fill the ink and maintenance liquid inside the dampers and heads.
This involves the following main processes:
Item Overview
Ink discharge from Head • Drain the ink from inside the head and damper.
Head unit flushing • Discharge the filling liquid remaining in the head.

• Follow the instructions on the display.
Ink discharge from Head
Drain the ink from inside the head and damper.
l Procedure
1. Select [#Adjust] > [Replace Head] > [Ink discharge from Head], then press the [ENTER] key.
2. Check the waste ink tank.
• The system automatically proceeds to the next step if the waste ink level is below 40% (800 ml).
• There is a risk of waste ink leakage if levels exceed 40% (800 ml) of the waste ink tank. Dispose of
the waste ink, and reset the waste ink tank counter.

level: 40% (0.8 L)
3. Select the Head for discharging ink and press the [ENTER] key.
4. Detach the double damper FIT on the top of the damper and press the [ENTER] key.
• Be sure to detach it. Failure to do so may prevent proper ink discharge.
• Be careful to avoid contaminating the surrounding area with ink.
• Be careful to avoid bending the ink tubes.
• Take care to avoid losing the rubber seal.
5. Press the [ENTER] key to start discharge.
