The fuel injection system monitors the
drive-by-wire system to ensure the safety
of the system, the driver and the passen-
gers.
Fail-safe mode
If there is a malfunction, a fail-safe
mode will activate.
During fail-safe mode, the engine check
warning lamp in the meter cluster will
illuminate. All available power will de-
crease according to the defective com-
ponent. The accelerator pedal can be
pressed but the engine management
system controls the engine speed and
the maximum speed. Drive the vehicle
immediately to an authorised PROTON
service outlet for inspection.
WARNING
(1) Do not drive this vehicle in the
fail-safe mode longer than ne-
cessary. When the engine check
warning illuminates, drive the
vehicle immediately to the au-
thorised PROTON service out-
let.
(2) When the vehicle stops, do not
stay in forward or reverse gear
position. Put the gear shift
lever in neutral gear position
to prevent possible damage to
the transmission caused by the
transmission oil overheating.
