shift lock mechanism will LOCK.
NOTE
(1) If you disarm this vehicle using the
remote transmitter or toggle switch at
the outer door’s handle beforehand, the
gear shift lock mechanism will also UN-
LOCK.
In this condition, the gear shift lock
mechanism will LOCK when you :
• Press the LOCK button on the remote
transmitter, or
• Press the toggle button of keyless
entry at the outer door handle, or
• Auto relock (if no doors/tail gate is
opened within 30 seconds)
(2) Gear shift lock is designed for anti
theft. Therefore, there is no manual re-
lease can be performed if this gear shift
lock mechanism is malfunction. Contact
an authorised PROTON service outlet for
inspection immediately.

Operation of parking brake
To apply the parking brake

1 – To apply the parking brake, pull the
parking brake lever to the up position.
To release the parking brake

To release the parking brake, pull the
parking brake lever one notch up, press
and hold the button at the end of hand
grip and lower down the brake lever.
CAUTION
Before driving, make sure that the
parking brake is fully released and
the parking brake warning lamp
does not appear.
Do not drive without fully release
the parking brake as it will cause
the brakes to overheats, reduce the
performance of brake force and
possible brake failure.
To park your vehicle
1. Stop the vehicle
2. To park a vehicle with AT transmis-
sion; Move the gear shift lever to P
(Park) position.
To park a vehicle with MT transmis-
sion; When the front of the vehicle
is parked on an up slope position,
move the gear shift lever to 1st gear
position.
When the front of the vehicle is
parked on a down slope position,
move the gear shift lever to R (Re-
verse) position.
