To maintain the value of the vehicle,
make sure the vehicle operates in a good
condition as follows:
1. Frequently clean and polish the
vehicle to clean any materials that
may damage the vehicle interior
and exterior.
2. Regularly check the vehicle for
scratches on the painted surfaces.
Scratches can cause body rust. Imme-
diately repair these scratches.
3. Follow the recommended periodical
service maintenance as shown in
the service booklet.
CAUTION
(1) Do not clean your vehicle exter-
ior and interior with materials
that are corrosive. Contact an
approved PROTON service cen-
ter for help in the selection of
these materials.
(2) Carefully select the proper ma-
terials to clean, wax and polish
the exterior of your vehicle.

the vehicle body and paint:

Chemical in the dirt from the road
surface
Sea-water
Anti-freeze liquid for road use.
Soot and dust, powder from
factories, acid / alkaline solvent,
road tar and other chemical mater-
ials.
Bird-droppings, carcasses of insects
and tree sap
Chemical solvents can cause corrosion
and damage to the paint, metal and
plastic parts of the vehicle body. should
be cleaned immediately the vehicle.
How to clean the exterior of your
vehicle
NOTE
Do not clean your vehicle in sunlight.
Park the vehicle in the shade and spray
it with water to remove loose dirt. Then
with clean water and a car brush or
sponge, clean the vehicle from top to
bottom.
Use a mild soap if necessary. Clean with
a soft cleaning cloth. After cleaning the
vehicle, carefully clean the joints and
flanges of the doors, hood, where dirt
may collect.
CAUTION
(1) When you cleaning the under-
carriage side of the vehicle,
wear a pair of rubber gloves to
give protection to the hands.
(2) Try not to use an automatic car
wash equipment. The brushes
may possibly damage the paint
surface and other installed
component for example rear
spoiler. Refer to the car wash
attendant for any possible
damage.
(3) Do not spray or splash water
on the electrical components
in the engine compartment,
which may possibly cause a
problem at the circuit.
(4) Some types of spray equip-
ment apply high pressure hot
water and heat to clean the
vehicle. This method may pos-
sibly damage the vehicle resin
parts and cause water to leak
into the vehicle interior.
When using this type of equip-
ment, make sure monitoring
the following.
Keep a good distance of ap-
proximately more than 40 cm
