1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Let the engine oil in circulation re-
turn to the oil pan for a minute.
4. Remove and clean the dipstick with
a cleaning cloth.
5. Put the dipstick into the dipstick
holder until the dipstick stops.
6. Remove the dipstick and read the
oil level.
7. The engine oil level must be in the
range indicated in the illustrations.
If the oil level is below the specified
limit, add engine oil.
Selection of engine oil

1. For correct engine oil specification
of this vehicle, refer to the Lubric-
ations topic in Specification
section.
2. The above chart shows the selection
of engine oil with the correct SAE
viscosity number according to the
outside temperatures range.
NOTE
Do not use engine oil with a lower API
class that will cancel the vehicle war-
ranty.
How to add engine oil
1. Remove the cap found on the cylin-
der head cover.
2. Add enough oil to increase the level
to less than the specified maximum
level.
NOTE
(1) Use the specified engine oil
and do not mix different types
of oil.
(2) If possible, do not mix differ-
ent types of engine oils.
3. After you add the engine oil, close
the cap.

Refer to General Information section
for information of the used engine oils.

CAUTION
Clean any oil spills with a soft
cleaning cloth when you change or
add engine oil.
Automatic transmission fluid
Check the transmission fluid level regu-
larly.
The proper amount of automatic trans-
mission fluid is essential to the life and
operation of the automatic transmission.
Either insufficient fluid or excessive fluid
could cause transmission trouble.

The transmission fluid filler port cap is
equipped with a dipstick. Use the follow-
ing procedure to check the fluid level.
1. Check the fluid level after the vehicle
has been driven enough to warm up
the transmission fluid (fluid temper-
ature 70~80 °C (158~176 °F)).
