2. Park the vehicle on a flat, level sur-
face and apply the parking brake.
3. With the engine idling and the brake
pedal fully depressed, move the
transmission selector lever through
all the positions from the P to S,
stopping momentarily at each posi-
tion.
4. Move the gear selector lever to N.
WARNING
Apply the parking brake and de-
press the brake pedal before mov-
ing the gear selector lever.
5. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with
a clean lint-free cloth.
6. Confirm if the fluid level is in the
HOT range on the dipstick. If the
fluid level is lower, add the specified
fluid from the fill hole. If the fluid
level is higher, drain the excessive
fluid from the drain hole.
7. If the fluid level is checked in cold
condition (fluid temperature 20~30
°C (68~86 °F)), add the specified fluid
to the COLD line on the dipstick.
Then, recheck the fluid level accord-
ing to above step 1~6.
NOTE
The COLD range is for reference only
and should not be used to determine
the transmission fluid level.
SK ATF SP-III should be used for replen-
ishment
WARNING
Check the transmission fluid level
when the engine is at normal oper-
ating temperature (the engine, radi-
ator, radiator hose, exhaust system,
etc,) are very hot. Be careful not to
burn yourself when exercising this
procedure.
CAUTION
Low fluid level can cause the
transmission shift slippage.
Overfilling can cause foaming, loss
of fluid and transmission malfunc-
tion.
Do not spill the fluid onto the ex-
haust manifold soon after driving.
Wipe away any split fluid com-
pletely. This will help avoid danger
of fire.
Care must be taken that SK ATF
SP-III cannot be mixed up or used
for top-up with other oil type.
Engine coolant check
DOIQW010R11002
1 - Engine coolant reservoir tank
2 - Radiator cap
CAUTION
The cooling system is a closed sys-
tem. Normally the decrease of
coolant is minimum. Any visible fall
in the coolant level in the reservoir
tank indicates a leakage. If this
condition occurs, go to an author-
ised PROTON service outlet for in-
spection.
The reservoir tank that holds the coolant
is in the engine compartment. The
reservoir tank has LOW and FULL
marks as shown in the illustration.
Check the level of engine coolant while
the engine is warm and running.
