CAUTION
(1) Make sure the vehicles bodies
do not touch each other to
prevent an undesirable ground
connection. In this condition,
the vehicle may not start and
the bad grounding can damage
the electrical systems.
(2) Check the battery (booster
battery) voltage of other
vehicle; The booster battery
must have a voltage rate of 12-
volt and the capacity (Ah) must
be more than the weak bat-
tery.
(3) If the booster battery uses dif-
ferent system, a short-circuit
can damage the two vehicles
during jump-start.
(4) Check the jump-cables for any
damage and corrosion before
using.
(5) Correctly engage the parking
brake on each vehicle.
WARNING
(1) Put the gear lever in the P
(PARK) position (for an auto-
matic transmission) or "N"
(NEUTRAL) position (for a
manual transmission).
(2) Turn the ignition to the OFF
position. Make sure the jump-
cables or clothing do not get
bonded by the radiator fan or
drive-belt. Injuries can occur.
(3) Turn off all lights, heater and
other electrical loads to pre-
vent from sparks to occur dur-
ing jump-start.
(4) Remove the cover of the bat-
tery positive (+) terminal be-
fore you connect the jump-
cable to the battery.
Connect the jump-cable
DOIKW009R07016
The above illustration shows the correct
connection sequence start from (1), then
(2), then (3) and last (4).
1. Connect the Red color end of the
jump-cable to the positive (+) termin-
al of the weak battery.
2. Connect the Red color end of jump-
cable to the positive (+) terminal of
the booster battery.
3. Connect the Black color end of the
jump-cable to the negative (-) termin-
al of the booster battery.
4. Connect another Black color end to
the engine hanger of the vehicle
with the weak battery. This connec-
tion (4) is for ground.
CAUTION
Make sure you follow the con-
nection sequence starts from
(1), then (2), then (3) and last
(4).
DO NOT make connection (4)
to the negative (-) terminal of
the battery. The flammable
gases caused by the battery
possibly can cause a fire and
an explosion. Make sure the
connection (4) is correctly made
to the engine hanger.
DO NOT connect the positive
(+) clamp of the jump-cable to
the negative (-) terminal of the
booster battery. Sparks caused
by the battery can cause an
explosion of the battery.
DO NOT connect the negative
(-) clamp of the jump-cable to
the fuel lines with metal coat-
ing, fuel filter or brake lines;
