task on or near to the SRS
components; The tasks include
any service, inspection, main-
tenance, repair and discard of
any SRS components or wiring.
Incorrect work on the SRS
components can cause the
airbags to deploy accidentally
or cause the SRS system to
malfunction.
(2) Do not change your steering
wheel, the retractor of the seat
belt or any of the SRS compon-
ents.
For example replacement of
the steering wheel, changes to
the front bumper or body
structure; All these changes can
cause a problem to the SRS
performance and cause pos-
sible injury.
(3) If your vehicle had any collision
before, get your vehicle to an
authorised PROTON service
outlet for SRS inspection. Make
sure the SRS system works.
(4) The SRS sensors are under the
centre console. If the carpet is
wet, do not start the ignition.
This problem may cause the
airbags to deploy. Disconnect
the battery and have the car
towed to an authorised PRO-
TON service outlet for repairs.
NOTE
(1) When you sell this vehicle, tell the
new owner that this vehicle has SRS
system. Refer that owner to the
applicable section in this owner's
manual.
(2) When you write-off this vehicle,
make sure you get this vehicle to
an authorised PROTON service out-
let. Make sure the SRS system is
safely disactivated.
(3) The SRS system only activates one
time in a collision. If the airbag has
been deployed, follow these proced-
ures:
• Get the vehicle towed to an author-
ised PROTON service outlet.
• Refer to an authorised PROTON
service outlet to change the SRS
system components.
• When replacing the SRS compon-
ents, use approved PROTON parts.
