Configuration Guide Configuring PoE Configuration
Command
Function
Ruijie# configure
Enters the global configuration mode
Ruijie(config)# interface fastEthernet interface-id
Enters the interface configuration mode and specifies the
physical port to be configured
Ruijie(config-if)# poe priority { low | high | critical }
Sets the power supply priority of the port
Ruijie(config-if)# no poe priority
Restores the default power supply priority of the port
For example, you can run the following commands in turn to set the power supply priority of port 1 to Critical, disable the
PoE priority, and restore the default priority of the port:
Ruijie# configure
Ruijie(config)# interface FastEthernet 0/1
Ruijie(config-if)# poe priority critical
Ruijie(config-if)# no poe priority
Ruijie(config-if)# end
This command is insignificant for a switch working in static power management mode, because the power of the
switch in static mode is allocated according to users' configurations and the switch does not automatically select a
power supply priority for each port. If the priority of a port is already configured before the switch changes to the
static mode, this command will be displayed but will not take effect.
Setting Compatibility with Non-Standard PDs
Currently, IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at are applied as PoE standards in the industry. In practical applications, however, PDs
are diversified and may not necessarily conform to the two standards. The following commands are available on Ruijie
switches to provide compatibility with some non-standard PoE devices.
Command
Function
Ruijie# configure
Enters the global configuration mode
Ruijie(config)# interface fastEthernet interface-id
Enters the interface configuration mode and specifies the
physical port to be configured
Ruijie(config-if)# poe legacy
Enables compatibility with PDs on a port
Ruijie(config-if)# no poe legacy
Disables compatibility with PDs on a port
For example, you can run the following commands in turn to enable and then disable compatibility with PDs on port 1:
Ruijie# configure
Ruijie(config)# interface FastEthernet 0/1
Ruijie(config-if)# poe legacy
Ruijie(config-if)# no poe legacy
Ruijie(config-if)# end
If you run this command on a port where no PD is connected, the peer device may be wrongly powered on and
burned. Therefore, ensure that the port is connected to a PD before running this command on the port.
The power class of non-standard PoE devices is uniformly displayed as 0.
If you do not run this command before installing a non-standard PD, the non-standard PD will not be powered on and
no prompt will be displayed.
