3.11 Current Protection: Arc Flash Detector (50 AFD)
By employing an optical detection technique, Arc Fault Protection results in fast clearance of arcing
faults.
Arc fault protection is achieved in the 7SR1 range of relays via the 7XG31xx series of equipment
being connected to the binary inputs.
Should the sensor operate when the phase current is above the 50AFD Setting in any phase then an
output signal will be initiated.
