7.Installateettingbetweenthedisconnectedhydraulichoseandthe
transmissiontting.Installa34,500kPa(5,000psi)pressuregaugetothe
teetting.
8.Disconnectthebalancinghosefromthetransmissionttingclosestto
transmissionpumpoutletttingforthereliefvalvetobetested(Figure45or
Figure46).Installasteelcaponthettingandsteelpluginthebalancing
hose.
9.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed(1,400rpm).Checkfor
hydraulic-uidleaksfromthetestconnectionsandcorrectbeforecontinuing
thetest.
10.Presstheenginespeedswitchtofullspeed(3,000rpm)position.
11.Sitontheseatandmovethemachineagainstanimmovableobject(e.g.,
wall)topreventmovementofthemachine.
CAUTION
Useextremecautionwhenperformingthetest.Thedrivewheelswill
betryingtomovethemachineduringtest.
Note:Whenapplyingbrakes,ensurethattheparkingbrakelatchisnot
pressed.Theenginewillstopiftheparkingbrakelatchispressed.
12.Firmlyapplybrakestopreventtherearwheelsfromrotatingandthenslowly
pressthetractionpedalinthedirectiontobetested(forwardorreverse).
Whilepressingthetractionpedal,carefullymonitorthepressuregauge
needle.Asthetractionreliefvalvelifts,thegaugeneedlewillmomentarily
stop.Tractionsystempressureasthereliefvalveopensshouldbe26,900to
28,200kPa(3,900to4,100psi)ineitherforwardorreverse.
Note:Itmaybedifculttoachievethetractioncircuitreliefpressure.Ifthe
tractionpedalispressedslowly,itismorelikelythatthereliefpressurecan
beobtained.
13.ReleasethetractionpedaltotheNEUTRALposition,shutofftheengine,and
recordthetestresults.
Note:Theforwardreliefvalvesforthe2transmissionpumpcircuitsare
identicalandthusyoucaninterchangethem.Thereversereliefvalvesare
alsoidentical.Theforwardreliefvalves,however,aredifferentthanthe
reversereliefvalvessodonotinterchangetheforwardandreverserelief
valves.
14.Ifthetractionreliefvalvepressureisnotmet,releasepressurefromthe
hydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressurefromtheHydraulicSystem
(page4–5).Removeandinspectthereliefvalve(s)fromthetransmission;
refertoServicingtheTransmission(page4–98).Cleanorreplacetherelief
valve(s).
Note:Thetractionreliefvalvesarenotadjustable.
15.Afteryoucompletethetesting,ensurethattheengineisshutoffandthen
releasepressurefromthehydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressure
fromtheHydraulicSystem(page4–5).Removethepressuregaugeand
teettingfromthemachine.Connectthepumpoutletandbalancinghoses
tothetransmissionttings.
16.Ifnecessary,repeatthepressuretestforothertraction-reliefvalves.
