Theparkingbrakesensorisanormallyopenproximitysensorthatmountsto
thebrakeleverassembly(Figure223).Thesensingplateforthebrakesensor
istheparkingbrakedetent.
Themachineisequippedwithaninterlockswitchontheparkingbrake.The
engineshutsoffifthetractioncontrolpedalismovedfromtheNEUTRALposition
withtheparkingbrakeengaged.RefertotheSafetyInterlockSysteminthe
TractionUnitOperator’sManual.
Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset(thebrakelatchisnotengaged),theparking
brakedetentispositionednearthetargetendoftheparkingbrakesensorso
thatthesensorisclosed.Theparkingbrakedetentismovedawayfromthe
sensorwhentheparkingbrakeisset(thebrakelatchisengaged)causingthe
sensortoopen.
TheT oroElectronicController(TEC)monitorstheoperationoftheparking
brakesensor.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSensor
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,andshutoff
theengine.
2.Beforeyoudisconnecttheparkingbrakesensorfortesting,ensurethat
youtestthesensoranditscircuitwiringasaTECelectricalinputwiththe
InfoCenterdisplay;refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting
(page5–30).
3.IftheInfoCenterveriesthatthebrakesensorandcircuitwiringare
functioningcorrectly,thennomorebrakesensortestingisnecessary.
4.IftheInfoCenterdeterminesthatthebrakesensorandcircuitwiringarenot
functioningcorrectly,proceedwiththetest.
5.Locatetheparkingbrakesensor(Figure223).
