Thesteeringhomesensorisanormallyopenproximitysensor.Thesensor
mountstoabracketthatissecuredtothebottomofthefrontaxleneartheleft
sidefrontsteeringfork(Figure224).Thesensingplateforthesteeringhome
sensorisatargetbracketattachedtotheleftsidefrontsteeringfork.
Whentheleftsidefrontsteeringforkisinthestraightaheadposition,aholein
thetargetbracketispositioneddirectlybelowthesteeringhomesensorallowing
thesensortobeinitsnormallyopenstate.Thesensorcloseswhentheleftside
frontsteeringforkisnotinthestraightaheadposition.
TestingtheSteeringHomeSensor
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,andshutoff
theengine.
2.Beforeyoudisconnectthesteeringhomesensorfortesting,ensurethat
youtestthesensoranditscircuitwiringasaTECelectricalinputwiththe
InfoCenterdisplay;refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting
(page5–30).
3.IftheInfoCenterveriesthatthesteeringhomesensorandcircuitwiringare
functioningcorrectly,thennomoresteeringhomesensortestingisnecessary.
4.IftheInfoCenterdeterminesthatthesteeringhomesensorandcircuitwiring
arenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwiththetest.
5.Locatethesteeringhomesensorandtargetbracketontheleftsidefront
steeringfork(Figure224).
