6.Turnthesteeringwheelsothatthefrontwheelsareturnedandcheckthat
theholeinthetargetbracketontheleftsidesteeringforkisnotdirectlybelow
thesteeringhomesensor.TurnthekeyswitchtotheRUNposition(donot
starttheengine)andchecktheLEDonthecableendofthesteeringhome
sensor.TheLEDshouldbeilluminatedwhenthefrontwheelisturned(is
notaimedstraightahead).
7.Turnthesteeringwheelsothatthefrontwheelsarestraightaheadandcheck
thattheholeintargetbracketontheleftsidesteeringforkisdirectlybelow
thesteeringhomesensor.WiththekeyswitchstillintheRUNposition(do
notstarttheengine),checktheLEDonthecableendofthesteeringhome
sensor.TheLEDshouldnotbeilluminatedwhenthefrontwheelisnotturned
(isaimedstraightahead).
8.IfthesteeringhomesensorLEDdidnotfunctioncorrectly,dothefollowing:
A.Ensurethatthesteeringhomesensorisproperlyadjusted;referto
AdjustingtheSteeringHomeSensor(page5–47).Ifnecessary,adjust
thesensorandreturntostep6.
B.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFpositionanddisconnectthe
steeringhomesensorconnectorfromthemachinewireharness.
C.Useamultimeter,checkthatthemachinewireharnessconnector
terminalfortheblackwireisclosed(continuity)totheground.
D.TurnthekeyswitchtotheRUNposition(donotstarttheengine)and
checkwithamultimeterthatthemachinewireharnessconnectorterminal
forpinkwirehassystemvoltage(12VDC)present.
E.Iftheblackwireisclosedtotheground,thepinkwirehassystemvoltage
present,andthesensorLEDdidnotfunction,replacethesteeringhome
sensor.Adjustthesensorafterinstallation;refertoAdjustingtheSteering
HomeSensor(page5–47).
9.Afteryoucompletethesteeringhomesensortesting,ensurethatthesensor
connectorispluggedintothemachinewireharness.
