Thesteeringhomesensorisusedtodeterminewhenthewheelsaredirected
straightahead.ThesensoractsasaninputfortheTECtodeterminewhen
steeringcanbechangedfrom4-wheelsteeringto2-wheelsteering.
Thesteeringhomesensorisanormallyopenproximitysensor.Thesensor
mountstoabracketthatissecuredtothebottomofthefrontaxleneartheleft
sidefrontsteeringfork(Figure191).Thesensingplateforthesensorisatarget
bracketattachedtotheleftsidefrontfork.
Whentheleftsidefrontsteeringforkisinthestraightaheadposition,anoval
holeinthetargetbracketispositioneddirectlybelowthesteeringhomesensor
allowingthesensortobeinitsnormallyopenstate.Thesensorcloseswhenthe
leftsidefrontsteeringforkisnotinthestraightaheadposition.
Beforeperforminganadjustmenttothesteeringhomesensor,ensurethatthe
frontandrearwheelsarealignedinastraightaheadposition.Arigidstraight
edge(e.g.,angleironormetalpipe)atleast2m(80inches)longcanbeused
toconrmthewheelalignment.Placethestraightedgeacrossthesidesof
bothfrontandreartirestoconrmthewheelalignment.Thestraightedge
shouldcontactbothfrontandreartiresat2pointswhenthewheelsarealigned
(Figure192).Ifnecessary,turnthesteeringwheeluntilthefrontandreartires
arealignedwiththestraightedge.Oncethefrontandrearwheelsarealigned,
proceedwiththesteeringhomesensoradjustment.
Note:Ifthewheelalignmentcannotbeachievedbyturningthesteeringwheel,
additionaladjustmentmayberequired.RefertoAligningtheWheels(page6–8).

1.Whenthewheelsareinthestraightaheadposition,ensurethatthesteering
homesensorisdirectlyovertheovalopeninginthetargetbracketattached
totheleftsidefrontsteeringfork.Ifnecessary,loosenandchangethe
