ServicingtheCartridgeValvesinaControlManifold
CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page4–5).
1.Ensurethatthecontrolmanifoldiscleanbeforeyouremovethecartridge
valvefromtheassembly.
2.Ifthecartridgevalveissolenoidoperated,removethenutthatsecuresthe
solenoidcoiltothecartridgevalve.Carefullyslidethecoiloffthevalve.
IMPORTANT
Labelthecartridgevalvesbeforeremovalsothatthevalvescanbe
correctlyinstalledintothecontrolmanifold.
IMPORTANT
Carefullyhandlethecartridgevalve.Slightbendingordistortionof
thestemtubecancausebindingandmalfunction.Whenremoving
thecartridgevalvefromthecontrolmanifold,ensurethatthedeep
wellsocketfullyengagesthevalvebase.
3.Useadeepsocketwrenchtoremovethecartridgevalvefromthecontrol
manifold.NotethecorrectlocationoftheO-rings,sealingrings,andback-up
rings.
4.Removeanddiscardthesealkitfromthecartridgevalve.
5.Visuallyexaminetheportinthecontrolmanifoldfordamagedsealing
surfaces,damagedthreads,andcontamination.
6.Visuallyinspectthecartridgevalvefordamagedsealingsurfacesand
contamination.
A.Contaminationcancausethevalvestostickorhangup.Contamination
canaccumulateinsmallvalveoricesorsealareasandcause
malfunction.
B.Ifthesealingsurfacesofthevalvearepittedordamaged,thehydraulic
systemmaybeoverheatingortherecanbewaterinthesystem.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
CAUTION
Suddenmovementoftheinternalvalvespoolscanreleasethe
storeduidsuddenly.
