Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset(brakelatchnotengaged),theparkingbrake
detentispositionednearthetargetendoftheparkingbrakesensorsothatthe
sensorisclosed.Theparkingbrakedetentismovedawayfromthesensorwhen
theparkingbrakeisset(brakelatchengaged)causingthesensortoopen.
AdjustingtheParkingBrakeSensor
1.Whentheparkingbrakeisnotapplied(brakelatchnotengaged),thegap
betweentheparkingbrakesensorandthetabontheparkingbrakedetent
shouldbe3.8to4.7mm(0.148to0.188inch).
2.Ifthegapisincorrect,loosenthejamnutsthatsecurethesensortothe
brakelever.Positionthesensorwithjamnutstoallowcorrectgapbetween
thesensorandthebrakedetenttab.Tightenthejamnutstosecurethe
adjustment.Torquethejamnutsto18.4to22.4N∙m(162to198in-lb).
Afterthejamnutsaretightened,ensurethatclearancebetweenthehead
oftheparkingbrakesensorandthetabontheparkingbrakedetenthas
notchanged.
3.CheckthattheLEDonthecableendoftheparkingbrakesensoris
illuminatedwhentheparkingbrakeisnotapplied(brakelatchnotengaged).
TheLEDshouldnotbeilluminatedwhentheparkingbrakeisset(brake
latchisengaged).
4.Afteradjustmenttotheparkingbrakesensor,usetheInfoCenterdisplayto
verifythattheparkingbrakesensorandcircuitwiringarefunctioningcorrectly;
refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting(page5–30).
