RemovingtheGearPump
CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page4–5).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Raiseandsupporttheoperatorseat.
3.Drainthehydraulicuidfromthehydraulictank.
4.Cleanthehydraulichoseendsandttingsonthegearpumpandhydraulic
tanktopreventcontaminantsfromenteringintothesystem.
5.Forassemblypurposes,labelthehydraulichosesandtubesthatare
connectedtothettingsonthegearpump.
6.Disconnectthehydraulichosesfromthettingsonthegearpump.Allowthe
hosestodrainintoasuitablecontainer.
7.Installcleancapsorplugsinthehoseandttingopeningstopreventsystem
contamination.
8.Supportthegearpumptopreventitfromfallingduringremoval.
9.Removethe2bolts(item12inFigure136),2lockwashers,and2at
washersthatsecurethegearpumptothetransmission,andremovethe
gearpumpfromthetransmission.
10.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ring(item3inFigure136).
11.Locateandremovethesplinecouplerfromthetransmissionorgearpump
shaft.
12.Ifthehydraulicttingsaretoberemovedfromthegearpump,markthetting
orientationforassemblypurposes.Removethettingsfromthegearpump
asnecessaryanddiscardtheO-ringsfromthettings.
InstallingtheGearPump
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthepump,lubricateandinstall
newO-ringstothettings.Installthettingsintothegearpumpports;refer
toInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittinginto
theComponentPort)(page4–9).
2.Slidethesplinecouplerontothetransmissionshaft.LubricatetheO-ring
(item3inFigure136)withgreaseandinstalltheO-ringontotheangeof
thegearpump.
IMPORTANT
Positionthegearpumptothetransmissionsothatthegearpump
suctionportisfacingup.
3.Positionthegearpumptothetransmissionandsecurethepumpwiththe2
bolts,2lockwashers,and2atwashers.
4.Removethecapsorplugsthatwereinstalledtothehydraulichosesand
ttingsduringtheremovalprocess.
