Regeneration
TheengineECUmonitorstheexhaustpressurebeforeandafterthesootlter
intheDPFtodetermineifsootisaccumulating.Ifsootisaccumulatingduring
normalengineoperation,thepressuredifferentialwillincrease.Theincrease
inpressurewillsignaltheenginetobeginaprocesscalledRegeneration.
Regenerationincreasestheexhausttemperatureandthelengthoftimethe
engineoperatesatahigherthannormalexhausttemperature,incineratingthe
builtupsootandturningitintoash.Thedifferenttypesofregenerationusedare
listedinorderbasedontheamountofparticulatematterinthesootlter(least
tomost).
