Chapter 7: Maintenance 7- 13
TM-500 Ethernet Networks
The diagram above illustrates three TM-500 Ethernet networks: the Machine Network, the Cus-
tomer Access Network and the Remote Software Upgrades & Support Network. A detailed
description of each network follows.
TM-500 Machine Network
The TM-500 Machine Network (indicated with BLUE arrows in the illustration) is a dedicated
Ethernet network that connects the control components of the machine to the computer. The
computer uses this network to communicate to the system via the TM-500 interface application.
IP Protocol:
• IP Address:161.149.1.201
• Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
• PC LAN: TM-500 Machine Connection
Note: This network should remain untouched as any changes may render the machine
inoperable.
TM-500 Customer Access
This network (indicated in RED arrows in the illustration) is dedicated for the customer to connect
to the TM-500 computer without disturbing the machine network. The Customer Access Network
allows networked access to the files on the TM-500 computer for data logging and tracking.
IP Protocol:
• IP address: Obtain automatically
• Subnet mask: Obtain automatically
• PC LAN: Customer Connection
Note: The machine's computer is shipped with this customer LAN to obtain an IP address
automatically. If a specific IP address is required, please note the IP address configura-
tion of the TM-500 Machine Network before assigning an address to prevent machine
downtime or errors.
TM-500 Remote Software Upgrades & Support
The Remote Software Upgrades & Support Ethernet connection (indicated with ORANGE arrows
in the illustration) can be used for any software upgrades or support via the Internet. Simply plug
an Ethernet cable into the port labeled INTERNET / Talk2M and connect it to an Internet connec-
tion. This will allow V-TEK Service personnel to remotely connect to the machine and provide
quick software upgrades and/or support via the Internet.
As with any computer system, V-TEK, Inc. recommends users create a
computer Recovery Disk prior to operation and conduct periodic back-
ups as needed. Visit the computer manufacturers website for instruc-
tions on creating a recovery disk.
V-TEK, Inc. does not create or maintain recovery information for this
laptop. Creating a recovery disk is solely the users’ responsibility.
