CHAPTER 20
Logs
20.1 Overview
This chapter contains information about configuring general log settings and
viewing the P-792H v2’s logs.
The web configurator allows you to choose which categories of events and/or
alerts to have the P-792H v2 log and then display the logs or have the P-792H v2
send them to an administrator (as e-mail) or to a syslog server.
20.1.1 What You Can Do in the Log Screens
•Use the View Log screen (Section 20.2 on page 254) to see the logs for the
categories that you selected in the Log Settings screen.
•Use The Log Settings screen (Section 20.3 on page 255) to configure the mail
server, the syslog server, when to send logs and what logs to send.
20.1.2 What You Need To Know About Logs
Alerts
An alert is a message that is enabled as soon as the event occurs. They include
system errors, attacks (access control) and attempted access to blocked web
sites. Some categories such as System Errors consist of both logs and alerts. You
may differentiate them by their color in the View Log screen. Alerts display in red
and logs display in black.
Logs
A log is a message about an event that occurred on your P-792H v2. For example,
when someone logs in to the P-792H v2, you can set a schedule for how often logs
should be enabled, or sent to a syslog server.
