7-4 Performing Synchronized Cardioversion
Using External Paddles
To prepare for synchronized cardioversion using external paddles,
perform the following steps.
1. If needed, insert a Data Card (as described in “Using a Data Card
(Optional)” on 2-13).
2. Apply monitoring electrodes, if desired. (See “Applying Monitoring Elec-
trodes” on page 4-4.)
3. Turn the Energy Select knob to Manual On.
4. Remove paddles from pockets by simultaneously pulling out and up

127( Do not apply conductive matter by rubbing paddles together. Improper usage
will result in a "Paddles On" event that will be registered in the Event Sum-
mary and may cause paddle damage.
5. Apply paddles.
6. Press Sync On.
7. Use to select the best lead that displays a large QRS complex. (See
“Selecting the Lead” on page 4-7.)
