11 Maintaining the Heartstream XL
This chapter describes how to care for your Heartstream XL Defibrillator/
Monitor and its accessories, including:
l operational checks
l battery maintenance procedures
l instructions on loading printer paper
l cleaning instructions
l a list of approved supplies and accessories, and
l instructions for disposal of the device
The operational checks described must be performed at the specified intervals
in order to help prevent and detect electrical and mechanical problems. The
battery maintenance procedures specified must be strictly adhered to in order
to ensure that your batteries have the energy required to operate the defibrilla-
tor and deliver the appropriate therapy.
