Cold weather starting (temperature
below 0°C)
WARNING: When outdoor temperatures drop to
around or below 0°C, (32°F), check the cooling circuit
and if necessary add the recommended antifreeze.
WARNING: Do not inject fluids (ether) to make the
engine easier to start in cold weather. The tractor is
equipped with a cold weather starting system.
Proceed in the following way:
- Perform operations 2, 3, 4 as instructed above.
- Turn the ignition key to the pre-heat position, so that
the indicator come on on the
LCD of the instrument cluster, and hold in this position
until the light indicator goes off. Then turn the ignition
key to the "START" position. If the engine fails to start
within 15 seconds, return the key to the pre-heating
position.
- Wait a further 10 seconds and then turn the ignition key
to the "START" position again.
- As soon as the engine starts, release the key.
- If the engine fails to start, repeat the warming-up or
starting procedure as described.
NOTE:
- If the engine fails to start after two or three attempts and
smoke can be seen coming out of the exhaust, repeat
the starting procedure without the thermostarter pre-
heating phase.
- Do not keep the key turned to the start position for more
than 10 seconds at a time.
- Wait at least 1 minute between one attempt at starting
and another.
If the engine does not start regularly and easily, do not
continue as for you may run down the battery. You should
instead bleed any air that may have accumulated in the
fuel system and, if the problem persists, check that:
- The fuel filters are not blocked.
- The battery and thermostarter are operating.
- That the fuses of the ignition circuit are in good condi-
tions and the fuel shut-off valve is open (contact your
Argo Tractors Dealer).
