Removing the S8500B server from the rack
To remove the S8500B server from its rack:
1. Label and disconnect all cables on the server.
2. Loosen the two front thumbscrews on the server.
3. Carefully pull the server from the rack.

CAUTION: All power must be removed from the server before starting this procedure.

ELECTROSTATIC ALERT: Take precautions against electrostatic discharge: wear a wrist strap connected to
an approved ground.
To remove the cover from the S8500B server:
1. Loosen the captive screw on the rear center of the server (see Figure 28: Locating the
server cover’s captive screw on page 115).
