Job Aid: Replacing the Avaya S8500 dual network
interface

This document describes the steps required to replace an existing dual network interface card:
l S8500 and S8500B servers use Material ID 700284623
l S8500C servers use Material ID 700406725
The components of this procedure include:
l Check Ethernet interface settings
l Backing up the server
l Powering down the server
l Removing the cover of the server
l Removing the fan unit (S8500 only)
l Removing the old network interface card
l Installing the new network interface card
l Replacing the fan unit (S8500 only)
l Replacing the cover and cabling
l Powering up the server
l Checking LED activity on the dual network interface card
l Configuring the NIC

CAUTION: Wear an antistatic wrist ground strap whenever handling the server or its
components. Connect the strap to an approved ground, such as an unpainted
metal surface.
