14.8. Zeroing
Mainstream and Sidestream / Microflow CO
2
Module
While zeroing is recommended the first time a CO
2
sensor is connected to the monitor,
it is only absolutely necessary when the message Zero Required” is displayed.
Follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the catheter or airway adapter is not connected to the patient or
close to any source of CO
2
(including the patient's, your own exhaled breath
and ventilator exhaust valves).
2. Using any of the following methods to perform zeroing:
Select the CO
2
parameter area or waveform area, and then selectZero
button.
Select Zeroquick keySelectCO
2
Zerosubmenuselect the CO
2
to zero.
The screen promptsCO
2
Zero In Progress…, and the message disappears after the
zeroing is completed.
Nomoline ISA CO
2
module will automatically zero when needed.
CAUTION:
Before zeroing, the side mainstream/ microflow CO
2
sensor must be connected
with the sampling tube.
Before zeroing, the mainstream CO
2
sensor must be connected with the airway
adapter.
Zeroing should not be performed for 20 seconds after the airway adapter or
cannula is separated from the patient's airway. Wait a moment before zero
correction to dissipate the remaining CO
2
in the adapter or cannula.
Zeroing should not be performed when the airway adapter or cannula is
connected to the patient's trachea.
When the temperature is not stable, please do not adjust to zero.
When CO
2
remains in the airway adapter or casing, zeroing will result in
