Tiller Handle Service – Standard
Remove set screw from starboard stern bracket
lower pivot pin access hole and use an appropri-
ate tool to remove lower pivot pin.
If lower pivot cannot be removed because of cor-
rosion or damage, stern brackets may need to be
disassembled.
Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Install
new cotter pins in upper pivot pin. Install a new
set screw in starboard stern bracket lower pivot
pin access hole and tighten securely.
Tiller Handle Service –

Removal
Use Ball Socket Remover tool, P/N 342226, to
unsnap the throttle cable clip from the throttle
lever.
Remove the throttle cable anchor screw and
washer. Loosen throttle cable retainer screw. And,
remove the tie strap holding the tiller handle elec-
trical harness.

Disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor
to prevent accidental starting of the engine
while servicing.
