u Make sure that the diffractometer in the setup that will be used for the non-ambient
measurements is well aligned.
1. Insert absorbers to ensure a count rate of <10kcps in the direct beam. Open the
receiving slit of the detector (0D detector) or use all strips of the LYNXEYE detector in
0D mode.
2. Move θ and 2θ angles to zero.
3. Perform a scan of the Z-motor. Make the scan wide enough to ensure that the
intensity is constant with distance at both ends of the curve. Move the stage to the
position of 50% intensity. If the scan was too course to accurately determine this
position (next figure), repeat the scan in a narrower range with a smaller step size
(second figure below) and move the stage to the position of 50% intensity afterwards.
