4. Useful Functions
Connecting over a LAN instead of by USB
MEMO
This section explains how to connect only over a LAN without using a USB connection�
However, by establishing a USB connection and a LAN connection, you can reduce the risk of operations being stopped due to
unexpected network problems, so we recommend that you use a USB connection in general cases�
Important: Windows rewall function
During LAN communication, this machine uses TCP ports 9100, 9500, and 9501� If you are using the Windows rewall
function, set it so that these ports are not blocked�
Important: Network settings
The settings listed here are only an example� The procedure and settings given in this manual do not match every
environment� In an environment where the computer being used is connected to multiple network devices and the
Internet, inappropriate settings will have a large eect on the entire network� For detailed information about the
settings, consult your network administrator�

Record the computer's current network environment.

Log on to Windows as the computer's administrator or as a member of the "Administrators" group.

Verify the computer is connected through wired LAN.
The following settings cannot be congured if using wireless LAN. Be sure to connect only through wired LAN.

Display the [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) Properties] window on the computer.

1 On the [Start] menu, click [Settings].
2 Click [Network & Internet] then [Network and Sharing Center].
3 Click [Change adapter settings] from the list on the left side of the window.
4 Right-click [Ethernet].
5 Click [Properties].

1 On the [Start] menu, click [PC settings] then [Control Panel].
2 Click [Network & Internet] then [Network and Sharing Center].
