4.3 External Braking Resistors
These resistors are used to dissipate the excess of energy generated at
the power DC BUS in an electrical motor braking process and cannot be
dissipated by any other means. They do not need an external power
supply.
4.3.1 Outside appearance
ER+TH-18/
independent resistors are external electrical resistors used
with QC-PS-
non-regenerative power supplies that have an internal or
external thermostat.
ER+TH-18/
+FAN independent resistors are external electrical resistors
used with QC-PS-
non-regenerative power supplies. They have an
internal thermostat and come with a single-phase 220 V AC cooling fan.
MANDATORY. QC-PS-
power supplies do not come with a in internal
braking resistor and, therefore, it is required that one is ALWAYS installed.
Select the resistor based on that required by the application. Selecting the
external braking resistor from table T. H4/10.
NOTE. This manual refers to other terms such as “external Ballast
resistors” and CROWBAR resistors” to refer to external braking resistors.
