Quantum Performance Verification Checklist
If you are experiencing accuracy or repeatability problems with your Quantum or
FARO ScanArm system, this section details proper setup techniques to help you
identify the potential sources of error.
It is important to clearly understand all the “do's and don'ts” in order to get the
most out of every Quantum and ScanArm.
Issues That Will Degrade Accuracy
Mounting
• Deflection in mounting:
• DO NOT mount to any type of wooden surface.
• DO NOT mount to optical tables such as a “Vibraplane.” The steel sheet
on the top of these tables is thin and will deflect.
• Folding tripods without using the stabilizing struts are unstable.
• Heavy-duty stands with wheels down and pins up are unstable.
• Part deformation due to excessive clamping force.
Compensation
• Deflection of compensation artifact.
FARO Laser Line Probe:
• Damage to compensation artifact.
