Chapter 4: Probes
NOTE: Connect the Quantum to the computer using the USB cable. The
Ethernet, WLAN, or Bluetooth connections do not support the data rates
of the FARO Laser Line Probe.
Laser Safety
All FARO Laser Line Probe models produce a visible laser beam. The laser is
CDRH Class II and IEC Class 2M power level; however operation of the device
requires the operator to avoid direct exposure to eyes at all times.
You should avoid direct exposure to your eye at all times. Although the human
blink reaction to bright light provides a natural mechanism of protection to this
visible laser beam, use caution while handling the FARO Laser Line Probe by
pointing it at only the target object.
CAUTION: USE OF CONTROLS OR ADJUSTMENTS OR
PERFORMANCE OF PROCEDURES OTHER THAN THOSE
SPECIFIED HEREIN MAY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS LASER LIGHT
EXPOSURE.
Laser Radiation Emission
When the FARO Laser Line Probe is operating, a laser beam emits from the
aperture at the front of the FARO Laser Line Probe. See
Figure 4-4 for the
location of the laser beam aperture.
