Noise Filter A fi ltering tool consisting of Color to neutralize the coloration of colored noisy
pixels which may occur in areas with very fi ne detail; the Luminance control which is
helpful to reduce “noise” in dark areas especially when long exposures or high ISO values
are used; and Moiré reducing the moiré effect which may originate from patterned mate-
rials showing interference with the frequencies of the pixel structure on the sensor.
Queue Displays the fi les currently being processed in the background.
Menu
The Menu at the very top of the screen contains several Phocus specifi c items like Image, File,
Edit, View, and Window with helpful hints and various keyboard shortcuts.
The Toolbar
The Toolbar above the Viewer offers in the default setting a number of options from Capture
to Import, Export, Modifying, Deleting, and Printing, and Preferences and Layout. You can cus-
tomize the layout with the Customize Toolbar control (Figure 5-36).

In the Capture mode, shots from a tethered camera are stored directly as FFF fi les in the
selected folder. An exposure can also be initiated remotely from the keyboard.
In Import, Phocus imports the selected fi les and converts them into FFF fi les.
The Export setting allows you to select the fi le format, resolution, profi le, etc. of the
exported fi les which includes an Output Preset and a Name Preset menu.
Modify opens a dialog box that lists the choices for batch modifi cation.
Delete sends selected images directly to Trash You can also open a dialog box for
approval before trashing. Print offers the standard printer choice as well as PDF and Preview
opportunities.
Preferances with the dialog of the following:
● Units which allow measuring images in centimeters, inches, or pixels
● Initial Approval Level which sets the approval rating of the incoming fi les
