300 IBM System Storage DS3500: Introduction and Implementation Guide
3. Click Add and selected mapping is active immediately. You can repeat this selection and
adding process until no unmapped logical drive are left. All hosts and all host groups are
capable for additional mapping, and only unmapped logical drives can be selected in lower
part for mapping.
4. To make this new added logical drive (or drives, if you select more) available to the host
systems without rebooting, you need to ensure that all host bus adapters are rescanned
for new devices, and the devices are assigned within the operating system. This can be
done by different tools based on operating system. This procedure is documented in the
sample configuration chapters later in this book.
11.7 View Unassociated Ports
In previous sections we described how to assign host ports (HBA in servers) to the Host. To
check what other host ports are already recognized by your DS3500 Storage Subsystem, but
are not assigned to a Host yet, select the option Mappings ďŽ View Unassociated Host Port
Identifiers from the pull down menu bar, or select Unassociated Host Port Identifiers icon
in Topology tree, right click and select View. If there are any, they are shown in a windows as
in Figure 11-23.
Figure 11-23 Unassociated port identifiers (FC, SAS and iSCSI Initiators)
The only difference here for the iSCSI host attachment in the Mapping tab of DS Storage
Manager, and how the hosts are defined by its iSCSI Qualified Name (IQN), instead of the
WWPN as in Fibre Channel or SAS. Detailed information, how to configure iSCSI hosts are in
Chapter 13, âAdministration - iSCSIâ on page 317.
11.8 Move, Remove and Rename Host
If you right click on any Host in the Topology tree, it opens the menu, where you can see
several options to configure:
Move
Using this option, you can move selected server from current host group to other host group,
or outside of the current group (Figure on page 301).
