18.1 Equipment required
We used the following hardware and software components for this configuration:
IBM BladeCenter E
IBM BladeCenter HS21 with Windows Server 2008 installed on local SAS disk.
TIBM BladeCenter Advance Management Module (AMM) installed in BladeCenter.
Two IBM BladeCenter SAS Connectivity Modules.
IBM BladeCenter dual port SAS Expansion card (CFFv).
A DS3500 System Storage subsystem.
Two SAS cables.
The latest version of DS Storage Manager running on an external management
workstation (at the time of writing, this is Version 10.70).
Figure 18-1 shows our sample hardware setup.

18.2 IBM BladeCenter setup
Check the IBM support Web site for the latest DS3500 interoperability matrix to ensure that all
hardware used for this configuration are supported. Ensure that the BladeCenter, blade
server, and modules are updated with the latest firmware. Consult the IBM support Web sites
for the latest firmware.
