22.4.4 Post-Install Server configuration

The procedure in this section must be performed after the VMware ESX Server software

installation is completed.

Enabling SSH connectivity

This procedure describes the steps to follow to enable SSH connectivity for the VMware ESX

Server:

1. Using the ESX server console, log into the VMware ESX Server.

2. Cd into /etc/ssh/ and copy sshd_config file into sshd_config.orig.

3. vi sshd_config file.

4. Scroll down until you find PermitRootLogin no, and change it to PermitRootLogin yes. See

Figure 22-51 on page 707
