19.3 Installing DS Storage Manager host software
We will install the host server components of DS Storage Manager. These components
include:
DS Storage Manager 10 Utilities
DS Storage Manager 10 Agent
MPIO Device Specific Module (DSM)
We will install DS Storage Manager 10 Utilities, because this will allow us to run the hot_add
utility and hence avoid the necessity to reboot the host server when adding new logical drives.
For the exact installation steps, see Chapter 5, “Installing IBM System Storage DS Storage
Manager” on page 133.
19.3.1 Installing the multipath driver
The next step is to install the multipath driver. Do these steps:
1. Start Storage Manager on your host server. A detailed description for installing the
Storage Manager is given in Chapter 5, “Installing IBM System Storage DS Storage
Manager” on page 133. Follow the steps, select either the Host installation type or
Custom installation (Figure 19-8 on page 579) and click Next.
