350 IBM System Storage DS3500: Introduction and Implementation Guide
14.4.3 The Support Monitor Profiler console
The Support Monitor Profiler console is a web-based interface for configuring and
administrating the Support Monitor functions.
1. You can start the Support Monitor Profiler console in one of four ways:
âType http://localhost:9000/ in the address field of a web browser. Note that you can
replace the value localhost with the specific host name or IP address of the
management station.
â Double-click the IBMStorageManagerProfiler Console icon on the desktop. Note that
this icon may not be present on every installation.
â On the Classic Start menu, click Start ďŽ Program ďŽ IBMStorageManagerProfiler
Console
â On the Start menu, click Start ďŽ All Programs ďŽ IBMStorageManagerProfiler
Console
2. The profiler console opens in a web browser as shown in Figure 14-20 on page 351.
Important: If you have multiple management stations running the Support Monitor
software, problems can arise if each instance of Support Monitor requests a log
collection from the same DS3500 storage subsystem at the same time (2 a.m.). There
are three suggested workaround to prevent this from occurring:
1. Stagger the times that the various Support Monitors are scheduled to collect CASDs
from the same DS storage subsystem. The default time to collect a CASD is 2 a.m.
For each instance of Support Monitor, ensure that there is at least a 15 minute gap
between the scheduled collection times.
2. Ensure that each DS3500 storage subsystem is managed by only one DS Storage
Manager Client.
3. Change the frequency that the Support Monitor collects a CASD to âneverâ.
