Firmware Inventory
Before and after updating the firmware levels of the DS3500 storage subsystem, you can use
the Firmware Inventory to view the firmware levels for one storage subsystem, or more than
one storage subsystem.
1. To view the firmware inventory for one storage subsystem, click on the Advanced ďŽ
Maintenance ďŽ Firmware Inventory menu command in the Storage Subsystem window.
Figure 14-34 shows the Firmware Inventory window. You can save the firmware inventory
to a text file by clicking the Save As button.

Notes:
1. Update the hosts, and ensure that the correct version of multipath driver is installed.
2. Update the ESMs first to the latest level, followed by the controller firmware. Outdated
ESM firmware could make your expansion enclosures inaccessible after the DS3500
storage server firmware update. The required ESM firmware level for each Controller
firmware level is mentioned in the readme for controller firmware.
3. Update the Controller firmware, followed by the NVSRAM; these two components must
be updated together or immediately in this order.
4. Any power or IP network/SAN/SAS interruption during the update process may lead to
configuration corruption. Therefore, do not power off the DS3500 storage system or the
management station during the update.
