4-5. Using the driving support systems
Driving
or just after the vehicle begins to move.
This sound does not indicate that a mal-
function has occurred in downhill assist
control system.
O Either of the following conditions may
occur when the downhill assist control
system is operating. None of these are
indicators that a malfunction has
occurred.
• Vibrations may be felt through the vehi-
cle body and steering.
• A motor sound may be heard after the
vehicle comes to a stop.
Q System malfunction
In the following cases, have your vehicle
checked by your Lexus dealer.
O The downhill assist control system indica-
tor does not come on when the
DAC/CRAWL switch is pressed.
O The slip indicator light comes on.

Q The system may not operate on the
following surfaces, which may lead to
an accident causing death or serious
injury
On the following surfaces, the vehicle
may be unable to maintain a constant low
speed especially when the grip perfor-
mance limit of the tires is exceeded or if
the tires do not make sufficient contact
with the ground. This could result in seri-
ous injury, or even death.
O Slippery surfaces such as wet or
muddy roads
O Icy surface
O Very bumpy and rough roads
DPF (Diesel Particulate Fil-
ter) system

When the deposit collected by the
filter reaches a predetermined
amount, it is automatically regener-
ated.
Q During regeneration
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in serious
injury such as burns caused by the hot
exhaust pipe and exhaust gases, or may
cause a fire.
O Do not stop the vehicle where flamma-
ble materials, such as dry grass, are
near the exhaust pipe.
O Make sure that there are no people
near the exhaust pipe.
O Do not carry out regeneration when
the vehicle is in an enclosed area, such
as a garage.
O Do not touch the exhaust pipe and
exhaust gases during regeneration.
