7-2. Steps to take in an emergency
When trouble arises

Q When the electronic key does not work
properly
O Make sure that the smart entry & start
system has not been deactivated in the
customization setting. If it is off, turn the
function on.
(Customizable features: oP.640)
O Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is
set, cancel the function. (oP.163)
Use the mechanical key (oP.141) in
order to perform the following opera-
tions.

Locks all the doors

Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks the
driver’s door. Turning the key once again
within 5 seconds unlocks the other doors.

Closes the windows and the moon

Opens the windows and the moon
If the electronic key or fin-
gerprint authentication sys-
tem

does not operate
properly
If communication between the
electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted (oP.164) or the electronic
key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart entry
& start system and wireless remote
control cannot be used. In such
cases, the doors can be opened and
the engine can be started by follow-
ing the procedure below.
Vehicles with fingerprint authenti-
cation system: When the engine
cannot be started without success-
fully performing fingerprint authen-
tication, or when the fingerprint
sensor has malfunctioned, the
engine can be started using the fol-
lowing procedure.
NOTICE
Q In case of a smart entry & start system
malfunction, or other key related
problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic
keys provided with your vehicle (includ-
ing the card key) to your Lexus dealer.
