Fingerprint sensor
Q Fingerprint authentication system
O The vehicle is delivered with no finger-
print information registered. The engine
can be started as the smart entry & start
system even if no information is regis-
tered.
O Successful fingerprint authentication
alone is not enough to switch the engine
switch mode or start the engine. The
electronic key must also be held.
O Fingerprint authentication is used as an
authentication device for My Settings
functions. (oP.209)
Q Fingerprint registration
O When registering fingerprint information,
repeatedly touch the fingerprint sensor
seated in the posture you would use
when starting the engine.
O When registering fingerprint information,
you may need to touch the sensor multi-
ple times with the finger that will be used
to start the engine. Slightly change the
position of your finger when touching to
touch a wider area.
O When fingerprint information is regis-
tered for the first time, the fingerprint
authentication system will automatically
turn on. Check the Multimedia Display to
see whether the fingerprint authentica-
tion system is on or off. Refer to the “Mul-
timedia Owner’s Manual”.
O When touching the fingerprint sensor,
ensure that your finger covers the entire
surface of the sensor. Touching the sen-
sor with your fingertip or the side of your
finger may prevent authentication.
O Touch the sensor slowly. Touching too
quickly or strongly, or sliding your finger
along the sensor while touching may pre-
vent normal recognition.
O When repeatedly touching the finger-
print sensor, wait approximately 1 second
in between each touch. Repeatedly
touching the sensor too quickly may
cause authentication to fail.
Q Agreement on Fingerprint System
Fingerprint information is used by this sys-
tem for security functions and Personal Set-
tings functions. Fingerprint information is
encrypted and stored only in the engine
switch, and is used only to perform finger-
print authentication to start the engine and
perform other vehicle functions (such as
automatically adjusting the seat and mirror
positions). Fingerprint information will not
be disclosed or provided to any third par-
ties. Users are allowed to delete their
stored fingerprint information based on
their intention.
Use the system after agreeing with the fol-
Fingerprint Authentication
System

The fingerprint authentication sys-
tem performs fingerprint authenti-
cation by authenticating the finger
used to touch the fingerprint sensor
on the engine switch, against fin-
gerprint information registered to
the vehicle. If authentication is not
successful, it prevents the engine
from starting.
For information on register-
ing/deleting fingerprint informa-
tion, refer to the “Multimedia
Owner’s Manual”.
