1-4. Theft deterrent system
For safety and security
lowing items on how fingerprint information
is handled.
O The fingerprint authentication system
does not completely guarantee the
authentication, verification or identifica-
tion of the individual. Please be advised in
advance that Lexus does not accept any
liability for loss or damage resulting from
the use of fingerprint authentication or
from being unable to use fingerprint
authentication.
O This system uses identifying fingerprint
characteristics for authentication. There-
fore, users with few identifying fingerprint
characteristics may be unable to register
fingerprint information, or may have diffi-
culty authenticating even if fingerprint
information has been successfully regis-
tered. In this situation, turn the fingerprint
authentication system off.
O Fingerprint authentication system perfor-
mance may vary depending on the condi-
tions of use. The condition of the finger (if
it is dirty, wet, dry, injured, etc.) may make
it difficult to scan the fingerprint or
reduce authentication performance.
O If fingerprint information registration or
fingerprint authentication fails frequently,
clean the surface of the fingerprint sensor
and try registering fingerprint informa-
tion again.
O Fingerprint information registered in the
engine switch cannot be migrating to
another device. If fingerprint information
is deleted or any system part is replaced,
the fingerprint information will need to be
registered again.
O If a user with registered fingerprint infor-
mation cannot be identified when diag-
nosing a fingerprint authentication
system malfunction, the fingerprint infor-
mation may be deleted by a Lexus dealer.
O Fingerprint information once deleted
cannot be restored. The fingerprint infor-
mation will need to be registered again.
O Fingerprint information will generally be
deleted when replacing the engine
switch. Please note that if fingerprint
information cannot be deleted due to a
malfunction, etc., the part containing fin-
gerprint information may be recalled or
returned to the user.
O If the part is recalled, it will be used only
to analyze the malfunction.
O If it is returned to the user, the user’s per-
sonal information will be stored in the
engine switch. Be especially carefully
managing it.
O Be sure to delete fingerprint information
if the vehicle will be sold, transferred,
scrapped, etc. Please be advised in
advance that Lexus does not accept any
liability for loss or damage resulting from
a vehicle being sold, transferred,
scrapped, etc. with fingerprint informa-
tion stored.
O Fingerprint information is encrypted and
stored only in the engine switch, and will
not be disclosed or provided to any third
parties.
Q Taking care of the fingerprint sensor
When cleaning the surface of the finger-
print sensor, wipe clean with a soft cloth
without any cloth fibers.
Q Customization
The Multimedia Display can be used to turn
the fingerprint authentication system on
and off. Refer to the “Multimedia Owner’s
Manual”.
Observe the following precautions when
turning the fingerprint authentication sys-
tem on and off.
O Fingerprint information for at least one
fingerprint must be registered.
O A user with registered fingerprint infor-
mation must successfully perform finger-
print authentication and the engine
switch must be turned to ON.
O Even if fingerprint authentication fails, the
fingerprint authentication system can be
turned on and off on the Multimedia Dis-
play, after turning the engine switch to
ON by touching the electronic key to the
engine switch. (oP.610)
O If the fingerprint authentication system is
turned off, a message indicating that the
