The path cost parameter is used by the bridges when they select the best data paths through the network
during network topology configuration. A BPDU hello message entering a bridge port carries a path cost
equal to the sum of the path costs encountered on its trip from the root to your device. Each device adds its
port path cost to this value before propagating the hello message, so that during network topology
reconfiguration, downstream bridges can compare costs among ports in order to decide which one is the
best choice for root port.
Command: >set spantree delay
Syntax: set spantree delay time
Explanation: The time spent by a bridge port in the Listening State and Learning State before moving to
the Learning or Forwarding State, respectively.
Parameters: time the time in seconds that bridge use for forward delay. The possible values
range from 4 to seconds. The default value is 15 seconds
Note: The default value of 15 seconds is recommended in the STP/RSTP. If you change
this value, the following relationship must be observed:
2 x (Bridge_Forward_Delay – 1.0 seconds) >= Bridge_Max_Age
Command: >set spantree edge-port
Syntax: set spantree edge-port port setting
Explanation: A port with the edge port feature enabled is moved directly to the Forwarding state without
waiting for the standard forwarding-time delay. Enabled only when the interface is attached
to a LAN segment that is at the end of a bridged LAN or to an end node. Since end nodes
can not cause forwarding loops, they can pass directly through to the spanning tree
forwarding state. Even user set a port as edge port, once any BPDU receive on the edge
port, RSTP make the port as non-edge port immediately. This is only RSTP feature, not
STP.
Parameters: port identifies the bridge port by name. (LAN1, WAN1, PVC1 ~ PVC10)
setting on - enable the Edge Port feature on specified port.
off - disable the Edge Port feature on specified port. (This is the default
setting)
Note: Use Edge Port only when the regarding port connecting to a single end station. Enabling
this feature on a port connected to a network device may cause broadcast storms and
address-learning problems.
Command: >set spantree fast
Syntax: set spantree fast port setting
Explanation: This command can enable or disable the spanning tree Port Fast feature on a specified
port. A port with the Port Fast feature enabled is moved directly to the Forwarding state
without waiting for the standard forwarding-time delay.
Parameters: port identifies the bridge port by name. (LAN1, WAN1, PVC1 ~ PVC10)
setting on - enable the Port Fast feature on specified port. (This is the default
setting)
off - disable the Port Fast feature on specified port.
Note: Use Port Fast only when the regarding port connecting to a single end station. Enabling
this feature on a port connected to a network device may cause broadcast storms and
address-learning problems.
