Chapter 21 Appendix A: Operation Commands
126
Command: >logout
Syntax: logout
Explanation: Log a user out.
Parameters: None
21.2.7 Ping Command
Command: >ping
Syntax: ping address [-l packet_size] [-w timeout]
Explanation: Ping operates by sending a packet to a designated address and waiting for a response. The
ping command is used to do a ping test. A ping test will verify whether or not a host
computer you are trying to reach at a particular IP address is actually operating. If a user
can't ping a host, then the user will be unable to use the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to
send files to that host. A ping test can also be used to determine the host computer’s
response time. Note: To cancel the Ping command, press ESC on your keyboard.
Parameters: address IP address to ping
packet_size Size of the ICMP packet
timeout Timeout period
21.2.8 Reset Commands
Command: >reset configuration
Syntax: reset configuration
Explanation: Forces all configurations to their factory default values. This command will reboot the
device
automatically.
Parameters: None
Command: >reset system
Syntax: reset system
Explanation: Reset the device.
Parameters: None
21.2.9 Save Configuration Command
Command: >save configuration
Syntax: save configuration
Explanation: Saves the current running configuration to flash memory. When a user changes any
configuration of the IP6610, the setting takes effect and is stored in the system’s volatile
memory (RAM). If the user wants the current running configuration to be a start-up
configuration, the user must save the running configuration before rebooting the device.
Parameters: None
