14.2.1 Measured profile
■ Primary profile P
A profile obtained by intersecting a surface with a plane normal to the nominal surface. It is
a representation of the real profile (a profile of the real surface) obtained by a stylus type
surface roughness measuring instrument.
■ Roughness profile R
A profile obtained by filtering the primary profile with a long-wavelength cutoff filter (high
pass filter) to remove the waviness components (long wavelength components).
