reference
There are two methods for setting the count level: the peak reference method and the base
reference method.
Peak reference
The count level is specified by the depth from the top line of the highest profile peak *3.
The depth from the profile peak can be set either as a percentage of the Ry value, or as a
numerical value (µm).
Base reference
The count level is specified by the distance from the mean line. The distance from the
mean line can be set either as a percentage (between 0% and 50%) of the Ry value, or as a
numerical value (µm).
*1: This parallel line to the mean line is called a “count level”.
*2: For a description of the local peak, refer to section 14.5.31, “Mean spacing of local peaks of profile, S”.
*3: For a description of the highest peak of the assessed profile, refer to section 14.5.3, “Maximum height of the
profile, Ry (JIS’82, JIS’94)”.
